Basic requirements for screening of Newly admitted Uniuyo UTME/DE candidates/freshers. (with VIDEO) -by ADMIN.

There is no gain stating the fact that those who fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Another adage puts it thus, “a stitch in time saves nine”.  In other words, to be forewarned is to be forearmed. It is against this backdrop that this notification has been developed to sensitize all newly admitted UTME/DE candidates of the University of Uyo on what is required of them for the post-admission screening exercise of the University of Uyo. This discussion will be split up into three categories viz:

1.     Materials        2. Issues       3. Fees/dues

MATERIALS:

As far as the post-admission screening exercise of the university of uyo is concerned, all candidates coming for the screening would be required to produce the ORIGINALS of the following documents.

    1.     SSCE certificate(s), statement of result(s) or result template.

    2.     Jamb result slip (not printout, coloured).

    3.     Acceptance fee receipt.

    4.     Certificate of birth.

    5.     Certificate of Origin.

    6.     Attestation letter.

    7.     At least twelve(12) coloured passports on RED background.

These are the basics, the rest of the things are bonuses.

ISSUES:

1. Please ensure to come along with both originals of the above documents and their photocopies (at least three(3) copies)

2.   Ensure to change the Acceptance fee receipt you obtained on payment of your acceptance fee into a receipt at your faculty. This will be handled by your faculty officer, who will attend to you once its time for you to do so.

3. You don’t need to pay the acceptance fee yourself if you’re not close to the school. Payment by proxy is allowed, but the bank teller must bear your details.

4.  Please don’t come with “FAKE” documents. You have time now, go and get the originals.

5. The Jamb UTME Result Slip is not the same as the ordinary jamb result. This one has your passport on it. Get to Jamb office and get the card for that, or contact the resellers at cyber cafés or business centres.

6. If you just wrote WAEC or NECO and your SSCE certificate is not ready, your schools statement of result will be accepted. Also, combination of results is allowed for at most two settings. However, certificates will be demanded from candidates who got their SSCE results dated three years back and beyond.

7.  SSCE Result template: some schools are unable to generate the statement of results for their candidates who just wrote the SSCE in their schools. For such candidates, the school sometimes permits them to get a portion of the WAEC or NECO result master-lists and use them temporarily for the screening. However, its advisable your school issues you your statement of result, which is much more honoured than the result template.

Attestation Letter:  meaning & acquisition.

From its etymological viewpoint, attestation is a derivative of the word, “attest” and has the following roots: < Latin attestari "to witness to" < testis "witness"> this leads us to the following definitions:

1. be evidence of something: to show that something exists or is true or valid 2. confirm something: to state that something is true, especially in a formal written statement. So, from these we now know what an attestation letter is. Simply put, an attestation letter you’re to bring for the the post-admission screening exercise of the university of uyo must be such a valid document that is duly signed and possibly stamped by an authority and must be generated using a letterhead. “Authority” here refers to a person occupying a position of authority in the society. This could be your religious leader, a political office holder, your school principal, proprietor, village head, paramount ruler of your local government area etc. N/B: the use of parents as referees in attestation letters is not really recommended. Try and use a person who has a physical office/ authority.

FEES/DUEs

National universities don’t pay school fees, they pay tuition. This differs between departments in terms of amount. So, not all departments pay the same tuition. Dues are what you pay at your departments and faculties aside from the regular tuition.

They are always very cheap, and just like the tuition, differ between departments and faculties. They are meant for internal running of affairs in the respective departments & faculties, and are usually handled by their respective EXCOs.

NOTE:

If on screening its discovered that your SSCE result is incomplete, or your documents are not genuine/original copies, you stand a chance of loosing your admission into the University of Uyo instantly. Beware!
